The Provincetown Public Library welcomes the community to participate in the Read the Book, Watch the Film: Hitchcock Adaptations series, consisting of six films screened during the months of September and October. This line-up of classic films has been carefully selected by Marc Strauss, Professor Emeritus in Theatre and Dance from Southeast Missouri State University. Professor Strauss will give a short presentation on each film in the series, and also host a question and answer session at the conclusion of the screening each week to discuss the similarities and differences between the literary source material and cinematic adaptation. The films start at 5:00 pm and will be shown in the following order:

September 20: The 39 Steps (1935), based on the 1915 novel by John Buchan of the same name
September 27: Jamaica Inn (1939), based on the 1936 Daphne du Maurier novel of the same name
October 4: Rebecca (1940), based on the 1938 Daphne du Maurier novel of the same name
October 11: Suspicion (1941), based on the 1932 novel Before the Fact, by Francis Iles
October 18: Rope (1948), based on the 1929 Patrick Hamilton play of the same name
October 25: Strangers on a Train (1951), based on the 1950 Patricia Highsmith novel of the same name
