The Provincetown Public Library welcomes the community to participate in the May free movie month comprised of five feature films that explore families of all kinds. This line-up of classic and contemporary films has been carefully selected by Mary Alice Wells, Library staff member and film aficionado.  The films start at 5:30 pm and will be shown in the following order:

May 1: Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation (1962; 1 hour, 56 minutes): Mr. Hobbs wants to spend a quiet holiday at the beach, but his wife has invited all their family to stay with them.

May 8: Hannah and Her Sisters (1986; 1 hour, 47 minutes): Between two Thanksgivings two years apart, Hannah’s husband falls in love with her sister Lee, while her hypochondriac ex-husband rekindles his relationship with her sister Holly.

May 15: Auntie Mame (1958; 2 hours, 23 minutes): An orphan goes to live with his free-spirited aunt. Conflict ensues when the executor of his father’s estate objects to the aunt’s lifestyle.

May 22: Little Miss Sunshine (2006; 1 hour, 41 minutes): A family determined to get their young daughter into the finals of a beauty pageant take a cross-country trip in their VW bus.

May 29: Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954; 1 hour, 42 minutes): In 1850 Oregon, when a backwoodsman brings a wife home not his farm, his six brothers decide that they want to get married too.
