The Provincetown Public Library welcomes the community to participate in the August Summer Camp Movie Series screened at the Provincetown Public Library during the month of August. This line-up of classic films has been curated by our very own Board of Library Trustee and film aficionado, Stephen Borkowski! Patrons are encouraged to bring their own snacks and refreshments. The films start at 5:30 pm and will be shown in the following order:
August 7: The Naked Kiss (1964; 1 hour, 30 minutes): Kelly (Constance Towers), a prostitute, traumatised by an experience, referred to as ‘The Naked Kiss,’ by psychiatrists, leaves her past and finds solace in the town of Grantville working as a nurse.
August 14: Portrait in Black (1960; 1 hour, 52 minutes): After a married woman (Lana Turner) and her lover murder her cruel husband, they find themselves targeted by someone who is aware of their crime.
August 21: The Opposite Sex (1956; 1 hour, 57 minutes): Former radio singer Kay (June Allyson) learns from her gossipy friends that her husband, Steve, has had an affair with chorus girl Crystal. Loosely based on the film The Women (1939).
August 28: Queen of Outer Space (1958; 1 hour, 20 minutes): American astronauts are drawn by a mysterious force to the planet Venus, which they find to be inhabited only by beautiful women and their despotic queen.
