Contaminants of Emerging Concern in Wastewater

Contaminants of emerging concern include pharmaceuticals, hormones, and consumer product ingredients. Dr. Laurel Schaider will provide an overview of these contaminants, studies of wastewater treatment plants and septic systems, and implications for wastewater management on Cape Cod.
This is the third installment of Wastewater 3.0: quarterly conversations with experts in the field of wastewater planning and management hosted by the Provincetown Board of Health.
Dr. Laurel Schaider leads the Cape Cod water quality research at Silent Spring Institute. She earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering Science from MIT.
