Winter Wednesdays is a free community program aimed toward bringing people together to learn new skills, meet other locals, and stay active and connected during the quiet winter moths on Cape Cod. The program runs Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm, February 6 to March 27. An Experience in Percussion: With an Afro-Cuban influence, we welcome all types of percussion, especially congas, bongo drums, and djembe. Bring whatever instrument you have. we will share our instruments and our knowledge of what we know of percussion. We also welcome any other contribution to build on that knowledge. Instructor: Richard Cuencas.
The Art of Dying: Death Education and Conversation: Nurturing a positive and curious relationship to our own inevitable ending. Instructor: Dawn Walsh.
Cake Decorating: A beginner’s class for those wanting to learn how to frost a cake, write a birthday message, and make some simple and unique cake decorations. Instructor: Shane Landry.
Sewing for Beginners: Dust off the old machine and bring it with you to learn some basic stitching techniques, like repairing those old shorts or making a gift for a loved one. Instructors: Scott Coffey and Rod Vaugh.
Card Making: Learn how to make your own cards for holidays and any festive occasion. Instructor: Sherry Prada.
The Definitive Bogart – A Film Series: Humphrey Bogart (1899 – 1957) was an American icon in the film industry, making a total of 80 films over the course of a mere 30 year career. From tough guy to anti-hero, Bogart was the definitive leading man in the forties and fifties in films that ranged from hoodlum to detective, dramatic actor to light comedian. In these eight representative films spanning less than two decades, Humphrey Bogart provides endless hours of entertainment while reflecting the ethos of his time and place in history. Talk (Wood)shop: Work alongside your friends and neighbors with guidance from woodworking professionals. Bring your own materials and projects or work together on a group project. Wood shop tools and equipment are available for use. Instructor: Nate McKean.
How to Read an Experimental Novel: Discuss 6 multi-cultural works and explore how to read unconventional stories about the human condition. Some books will be provided as handouts in class or participants can attain the book beforehand at the Provincetown Public Library. Instructor: Ephen Glenn.
