I Used to Hate Treading Water
A Poem by Tim Bosworth

I used hate treading water.
Working to stay in one place and not drown.
Never going anywhere, never making any progress.
Maybe I wasn’t a good enough swimmer.

Today I feel pretty good sitting up over our parking lot.
Looking out over everybody’s comings and goings.
Traveling in my mind,
Getting coffee when I want.

Maybe it was being in water that was the problem.
