Room by Emma Donahue Reviewed by Brenda Conlan
I had been scared to read this book, but as many people said, it was well worth reading. The fact that the narrator is a child really adds a buffer to the horror of the situation. Emma Donahue is a really clever and imaginative writer – I also loved her book, Slammerkin. I really gobbled up Room and even watched the film to see if they could bring it to life on screen. The book was much more nuanced, which is almost always the case, but the film was quite good, too
