Flowers
A Poem by Mark S. Peel
there are only but so many ways
you can tell her you love her
i guess it’s in the number of times
that you do that truly counts
but don’t let the time go by
between the times you show it
that’s simply not what you mean to do
or want to convey
so what you can do when you
want to mean what you don’t always say
when first learning the ways of love
feeling your way among the options
is to offer the love you mean
in the beauty and essence of the fresh flower
what we do when we are first learning to love
is also what we do when our loved ones exit
still nothing comes closer
than the words themselves
nothing comes close
to the love you feel
nothing comes close
to the intent you want
