Carmilla: A Halloween Play Reading

Sunday, October 30 at 2:00 pm in the Marc Jacobs Reading Room

The Provincetown Public Library is pleased to announce a very special event for Halloween 2022!  Noted actor/writer Bragan Thomas will present a world premiere reading of his latest work of Gothic theater – CARMILLA, a re-imagined adaptation of the 19th century vampire romance classic by British writer, Sheridan LeFanu.

Austria, 1912.  Intellectual, bookish Laura resides in a remote schloss with her father, Sir Frederick.  Laura is lonely, despite the presence of her adoring father and beloved governess, Madame Perrodon.  When a sudden accident brings the beautiful and mysterious Carmilla into the household, it seems that Laura’s wish for a true friend has become reality…Then, a strange illness plagues the area – young girls start dying from a bizarre wasting disease – and Madame Perrodon suspects that the elusive Carmilla may somehow be responsible…Will the truth about Carmilla be uncovered in time to save Laura from danger?  Come and find out on October 30, 2022 at 2PM in the Marc Jacobs Room at the Provincetown Library!

The cast will include Susanna Creel as “Laura,” Rachel Walman as “Carmilla,” Emily Entwisle as “Madame Perrodon,” Andrew Haber as “Sir Frederick,” John Hanright as “The Mountebank,” Bragan Thomas as “Baron Vordenburg,” Alison Hyder as “Mademoiselle Delafontaine,” and Pam Banas as “The Countess.”

Admission is free.  Come and participate in the development of exciting new works of live theater to celebrate Halloween 2022!  This special event is being produced by Bragan Thomas.  For more information, please visit the Library website at www.provincetownlibrary.org or call 508-487-7094.
