Free Movie Nights: Christopher Guest Fest

Wednesdays in December, 6:00 pm

The Provincetown Public Library welcomes the community to participate in its free movie Wednesdays!  December’s series is comprised of five films featuring the hilarious mockumentary style comedies of Christopher Guest! This line-up of classic films has been carefully selected by Mary Alice Wells, Library staff member and film aficionado.  The films start at 6:00 pm and will be shown in the following order:

December 1: Best in Show (2000; 1 hour, 30 minutes): At the prestigious Mayflower Dog Show, a "documentary film crew" captures the excitement and tension displayed by the eccentric participants in this outrageously hilarious satire. This biting send-up exposes the wondrously diverse dog owners who travel from all over America to showcase their four-legged contenders.

December 8: Waiting for Guffman (1996; 1 hours, 24 minutes): An aspiring director and the marginally talented amateur cast of a hokey small-town Missouri musical production go overboard when they learn that someone from Broadway will be in attendance.

December 15: For Your Consideration (2006; 1 hour,  26 minutes): Three actors learn that their respective performances in the film "Home for Purim," a drama set in the mid-1940s American South, are generating award-season buzz.

December 22: This is Spinal Tap (1984; 1 hour, 22 minutes): Spinal Tap, one of England's loudest bands, is chronicled by film director Marty DiBergi on what proves to be a fateful tour.

December 29: A Mighty Wind (2003; 1 hour, 31 minutes): Mockumentary captures the reunion of 1960s folk trio the Folksmen as they prepare for a show at The Town Hall to memorialize a recently deceased concert promoter.
